A Note from the Starlight’s Youth Theatre, Inc. Board of Directors:

The YOUTH of Starlight’s Youth Theatre are back and we are so proud of their hard work.

A few big initiatives to talk about. One is our new volunteer designation of the “Magic Makers.” Volunteers help in a variety of ways and those gifts can last for years. For example, if you were able to come see our younger students in Lion King in March, then you saw the lion headpieces made by Magic Makers from 6 years ago under Amy Coulthard’s costume design and we are forever grateful. This spring new “Magic Makers” arrived on the scene and supported our amazing youth. Thank you to all of them.

Can we imagine our own theater home? The non-profit board of Starlight is excited to be partnering with other area arts groups  imagining a future where we could build sets and rehearse in a dedicated space. We appreciate Maple Ridge where we rent space now, it is clean and safe. But it is not a theater (Cyn, and anyone who shows up early to help, spends a few hours each day prepping the space for our use) Imagine the performing arts organizations of the Amherst region sharing a dedicated building in which to rehearse, create costumes, sets, and props, all under one roof. This is the goal of PAEC, Performing Arts and Education Cooperative. If you or someone you know is willing to join in this endeavor, please contact Clare Bertrand clarebertrand@gmail.com

The Board for Starlight’s Youth Theatre is a blend of community members whose kids were part of Starlight years ago but who still believe in the program as well as parents of students today. All contribute in many ways and we want to express our appreciation to all of them. Special Thanks to our Artistic Director, Cyn Strycharz, who continues to bring dedication and passion to all the young people who join Starlight and step into the magic of theater.
