Our Mission
Starlight’s Youth Theatre is dedicated to providing quality education and production of children’s theatre. Our priority is the development of the child, using theatre as the tool to build self-esteem, communication and confidence. Focusing on process over product, we invite children to enter, enjoy and expand their imagination in the world of theater.
Cynthia Strycharz, Artistic Director.
Cynthia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Education – her teaching stems from the philosophy that students growth comes through the process of drama more than the product of theatre.
Cynthia (Cyn) has been teaching and directing theater in the area for over 25 years. During that time she has directed more than 200 shows. Cyn also founded South Hadley Community Theatre where she served as president, producer and director during her 17 years with the company. She has directed for Amherst Leisure Services, Panache Productions, Granby Art’s Project, and Playacting. Through Starlight Productions and then Starlight’s Youth Theatre, Cyn has been guiding young actors and presenting shows for over 600 children– she has personally made each young actor understand just how truly special and important they are.
Today Starlight’s Youth Theatre served over 130 young actors from over 32 communities throughout western Massachusetts. Although much has changed over the years, one important thing has remained constant; Starlight’s commitment to using performance to support the development of each young person.
